The Design Behind Echo

Echo was named for the smooth flowing curves of its form echoing inside itself.  Echo was designed to bridge the gap between aesthetic and functional coffee tables and the affordances they create in a living environment.  Coffee tables tend to be the gathering point for social functions and family events creating a centerpiece for discussion and relaxation.   Echo’s flip out table top affords users more table surface area to become a work surface or table space for guests sitting around the table. Production of the table uses a single mold to create the bends, reducing the amount waste and number of production processes.

Echo features two moving sections, a pull out leaf, and swing out storage and work surface.

Echo was exhibited at the DeVos Art Museum April 2012 in Marquette, MI
